Saint Paul Chinese and English Language Festival
The very first Saint Paul Chinese and English Language Festival was successfully held at the School Hall on January 5th, 2024! We hosted the Festival to motivate students and cultivate Chinese (both Mandarin and Cantonese) and English language learning atmosphere as well as to provide an opportunity for the participants to understand and appreciate different cultures. The Festival served as a platform for our students to showcase their interest and talents in using the languages to create, present, and communicate with others.
Honorable guests were invited to participate in the Festival, including Ms Sandy Leung, the Chair of the Organizing Committee; Ms Maggie Chan, the President of Macau Professional Speaking Association; and Frederico Canongia Lopes, an English Teacher. Additionally, we were delighted to welcome teachers from our sister schools, Zhuhai Jinding Middle School and Zhuhai Jinfeng Primary School. Everyone including our Principal, member of the academic committee, parents, teachers and students enjoyed the show immensely. Students cheered and praised the performers, learning to appreciate the efforts of others. It was also an encouragement to all the students and let them put language learning in an authentic environment.
The performances were diverse and entertaining, ranging from group recitation with Chinese instruments and solo recitation to speech, reader’s theatre, and dancing.
We hoped that students feel proud of promoting their native language and are brave in using their second languages.
