We are thrilled to announce the successful completion of our “Singapore English Expedition: Immersive Language Acquisition Journey.” From 1st to 10th July 2024, twenty enthusiastic students, accompanied by four teachers, embarked on an enriching ten-day adventure in Singapore.
This groundbreaking expedition aimed to elevate our students’ English skills and broaden their cultural understanding. Through this journey, they gained invaluable insights into the role of English in “Belt and Road” countries and experienced the vibrant multicultural society of Singapore.
The journey began with visits to cultural landmarks like the Merlion Park, where students immersed themselves in Singapore’s rich history. They then engaged in environmental learning at the NEWater Visitor Centre and explored a cutting-edge tech company. Tours of Nanyang Technological University and the National University of Singapore provided academic enrichment and lively interactions with the scholarship recipient. Culinary adventures included savoring the unique flavours of Peranakan cuisine. Visits to the Singapore Botanic Gardens and SEA Aquarium offered interactive English learning opportunities about biodiversity. Students further explored the vibrant cultures of Chinatown, Kampong Glam, and Little India, deepening their appreciation of Singapore’s diversity. Insights into urban development were gained at the Urban Redevelopment Authority. Iconic destinations like Gardens by the Bay and Jewel Changi dazzled with innovative design. Throughout the trip, students improved their English proficiency through meaningful interactions with peers at HWA International School and an outdoor classroom experience featured collaborative street surveys and interviews along Haji Lane, fostering lasting international friendships and cultural exchanges.
This pioneering journey not only boosted language skills but also ignited independence, cultural awareness, and a profound appreciation for global perspectives.
